What is the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS)?

This system allocates points to each candidate and automatically ranks those higher who fulfill multiple criteria. Language skills, educational background, work experience, and the age of every applicant are taken into account when calculating each immigrant’s ranking. The higher a candidate ranks through this system, the better their chances of getting permanent residency in Canada.

Points Allocation

Each applicant is allotted a score from a total of 1200 points. There are four factors upon which this total score is divided into.

1. The Factor of Human Capital

Any candidate applying for a visa or a PR with a spouse will be rated 460 points. Those applying without spouses can earn up to 500 points.

2. Spouse or Common-Law

Every candidate is then ranked on their ability to act as a law-abiding citizen in their home country. Depending on the legal history, each applicant can gain a maximum of 40 points in this criteria.

3. Skills Transferability

Some skills might be useful in one country and might not prove resourceful in Canada. The skills that can be useful in Canada are termed transferable skills and can improve your ranking on the comprehensive ranking system. An applicant can gain up to 100 points depending on the extent of transferability of their skills. 4. Other Factors
