Who Can Sponsor?

To sponsor someone in Canada you should either be a Canadian citizen or have acquired the status of a permanent resident in the country. Additionally, you should have sufficient finances to support your spouse and ensure that they don't need social assistance from the Canadian government. For this purpose, you'll be required to sign and submit an undertaking, promising to cover your spouse's fundamental needs, such as food, shelter, clothing, healthcare, etc., for a certain period.

You can sponsor your common-law partner or spouse but here are the necessary conditions;

· Marriage must have been legally performed in the country

· If the marriage was performed in another country, you need to ensure the IRCC that it was legally recognized there.
